"Good News" From the Capitol

Economists tell us that if people have jobs and the economy is strong, the real estate market will remain bouyant. Therefore, in the real estate community, any news that confirms high employment and a strong economy is always considered good news. So when Senator Pete Domenici came to town this week and told us he had good news, we listened up.

In addressing the business community at a luncheon by the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, the senator said his good news related to declining federal budget and deficits, a soaring stock market, and a booming American economy that was creating new jobs.

He also said the good news more specifically related to bipartisan efforts on the Hill that he felt convinced would result in the passing of the Mental Health Parity Act that would lead to more equitable treatment for mental health patients. He said bipartisan efforts were also forcing Congress to take action to bring about fiscal solvency for federal entitlement programs (i. e. social security).

Senator Domenici also reported as good news, fuller implementation of the Energy Enactment Policy Act that lead to the creation of 160,000 jobs, groundbreakings for new ethanol plants, plans for nuclear power plants, investment in wind energy, expanded liquiefied natural gas terminals, new hybrid vehicles, and tax credits for clean-burning coal as fuel.

Significantly, the New Mexico Business Weekly reported that day, Tesla Motors plans to build a new $35 million assembly facility in Albuquerque, creating 400 high-wage jobs. http://albuquerque.bizjournals.com/albuquerque/stories/2007/02/19/daily7.html

Senator Domenici the bearer of good news concluded, More jobs, cleaner and more secure energy, lower deficits, stronger pension plans --now that is good news.

The relevance of his message for me, a real estate professional, is the confirmation that the housing market in New Mexico will continue to be favorable in 2007 and 2008, as predicted.

Keller Williams Realty #1

February 12 to 15 was an inspiring time in Las Vegas. Founder of Keller Williams Realty http://www.kw.com, Gary Keller , speaking of the real estate market, told over eight thousand attendees at the company's Family Reunion to forget dire predictions and statistics, focus on fundamentals, and become prospect based. He said, "Forget it!

The visionary leader spoke from a position of strength, having unveiled that in 2006, despite the shift in the real estate market, Keller Williams Realty is No. 1 among the top five real estate companies in North America in terms os number of agents per office and the No. 1 Real estate franchisor in net growth . In addition, Keller Williams broke records in profit sharing and gross commission income for associates.

I attended the family reunion for the first time and found it a profitable experience.

I would be pleased to answer questions about opportunities with Keller Williams Realty.

New Mexico, Land of Contrasting Beauty

I have heard it said that some Americans think that New Mexico is a foreign country where a language other than English is spoken, a place where a passport is needed to cross the border. Some think the state is a barren desert. Not so!

New Mexico is one of the southwestern states of the United States. While many people are bilingual in Spanish and English, and some other languages too, most speak only the official language, U. S. English

New Mexico is a beautiful land of diversity and contrasts - diverse peoples, contrasting climactic regions, landscapes, and difficult-to-define captivating charm.

People come from many parts of the world to Albuquerque, for example, to experience the pleasant high desert climate. They discover the friendliness of the people the beauty of the region, and that indefinable charm that endear them to New Mexico for a lifetime.

Conversations often start with newcomers sharing when they came, why they came, and whether it was love at first sight. I often hear comments like, I love waking up to the mountains each day or I like to see the big sky. Here in pictures, is what most of us like about New Mexico. http://www.realestateshows.com/show.php?mls=basic&id=128980 .

The World at my Feet (Virtually)

Although I have been blogging for sometime, it dawned on me only today that the reach of my voice or my virtual pen as a blogger, keeps expanding exponentially, and in real time. I only have to take advantage of the blogging opportunities that present themselves to reach everyone who logs on to a computer. These opportunities seem to grow daily.

Only a month ago, I discovered ActiveRain http://www.activerain.com/blogs/giftrealty
This site is more than a place to blog. It is a community of industry professionals with whom I laugh, cry, learn and grow. It is the site that comes closest to the fulfilment of the promise of the Internet to build community across all types of barriers.

While learning how to navigate ActiveRain, I discovered blog sites powered by http://www.google.com that allow and require greater independence. I now also know that hundreds of sites exist and it is a matter of finding the right fit for your interests and level of expertise.

Within the past week, two more blog sites opened up for real estate professionals. RealTown expanded http://www.inman.com/inmannews.aspx?ID=61968 and Inman News also announced a launch http://www.inman.com/inmannews.aspx?ID=61968.

Realtown is not a new, but an expanded entity http://www.realtown.com/. I am familiar with RealTown. They do a great job of qualifying REALTORS as Internet professionals. Ever since I completed the coursework for my e-PRO certification, I have been a sporadic blogger on RealTown. RealTown's declared goal is to integrate citizen journalism and professional journalism, and give equal weight to both. With RealTown's new approach and my new awareness of expanding the range and reach of my voice, my goal is to be a more consistent contributor.

I love the advantages of blogging. Apart from the quick dissemination of information, I think blogging has tremendous potential for breaking down barriers and facilitating cooperation in innumerable ways.

It is exciting to think that I can share information about the open house I am hosting this afternoon as soon as I click on an icon on the icon to publish this blog. Anyone, in any part of the world has instant access to this information on 3113 Camino Caballete, Albuquerque, New Mexico MLS# 486725, for $439,000. What's more, anyone may communicate with me promptly and directly in real time, about this property. http://eloisegft.com

No Bubbles Burst in New Mexico Residential Real Estate -2006 Second Best Year on Record

I love it when my predictions turn out to be true. The year-end report of the AlbuquerqueMetropolitan Board of realtors substantiates my earlier conclusions that the Albuquerque, New Mexico residential real estate market for 2006 would reflect good health. http://activerain.com/blogsview/31268/Great-Year-for-Albuquerque.

New Mexico did not have a bubble to burst, and no bubble burst. Neither did the market decline. On the contrary, 2006 was the second best year on record for residential real estate in the Greater Albuquerque region. The Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors statistics confirm the strong 2006 market. http://members.abqrealtors.com/hs/stats-2006_year_end-report.pdf
